First ever winter ascent of Rattlesnake Butte on top of Monarch Hill. This formidable assualt of the grueling 850' of vertical from the roadside pullout provided by the "Gliko" family brought some unexpected rewards....A 1/2 mile by 1/4 mile powder field on the east side of the butte that wouldn't quit and a View of Little Belt area that I couldn't beleive. Conditions should hold for a while even though snow in this area is tenuous.[G2:7050][G2:7045]

Video from the top,

Sorry Joel for not following your lead with the nice high quality video with music and proper editing but just getting there and bringing something back to share is about all this old guy has left these days.

Don't let him fool ya....wish

Don't let him fool ya....wish I could keep up w/that old fart. One of these days when I grow up.

Looks like you got it in as perfect of shape as it'll ever get. Doesn't look like 1 bare or thin spot anywhere. Weather station was only showing 11-14mph most of the afternoon - was it better than that as you climbed higher?
