Laurel and I went up to Dickey Lake today to find that all the snow had melted but it was a bluebird day, the thermal was working well and I was itchin' to try the 215 DH boards I bought at the Salvation Army yesterday for $4.25 so we went out and skidded around on the ice with our GPS's anyway.
I went out pretty lit on my 13 meter for an hour or so but couldn't better 48 mph. Frustrated and wanting to break 50 for the first time I pumped up my 9 meter Edge and tried again. Got back upwind where Laurel was and sent one. Smoked across the narrow-ass little gusty lake, skidded for three hundred yards into a transition and looked at my GPS to see 51.4!
Made about 20 more runs and ended the day with a top speed of 56.7. Laurel finished up with 41 or 42 mph. She was happy to break 40 but I think it left her wanting more.
Time to head to the east-side and find a bigger lake!
Speedy day at Dickey Lake.
That's a lot of trust to put in $4.25! Sounds awesome...wish I were out there!

56.7 mph - with speed like that, you might be breaking speed limits here on the rez. Certainly 215 cm can't be legal... Looking forward to seeing you guys skipping across the lakes here.
did you pick up a sweet one piece to go along with those skis?
That'd be hot. We could start a new look for winter kiting...super tight downhill suits with giant board shorts over the top.
Jason have you seen Duck Lake recently?
Haven't been up as far as duck lake, but I did check out lower St. Mary about two weeks ago. At the time it had styrofoam snow over most of the lake and good wind - as long as it was blowing hard out of the west southwest. Upper St. Mary that day was nuking at over 30 mph with big gusts, while lower SM was sheltered a bit. Its been pretty warm lately, so not sure what's still on the lake.
I'll be look for a downhill suit... Ya think my neon reusch gloves (circa late 80's) would go?

How many air bags do you have?
