Bighorn Mountains
Location
The Bighorn Mountains are a short drive from Billings, once there you find a consistant supply of wind and plenty of snow. You can ride open flats or up and down huge hills. With the entire mountain on state land the back country riding is never ending. There is certainly something for everyone! In mid to late Nov. the access becomes somewhat limited due to hwy 14A closing at the top of the mountain for the season. It is aproximately a 1-2 mile hike from the road closure to kiteable terrain. This is also a popular snowmobile spot so you might be able to hitch a ride if your a smooth talker.
From Billings you need to drive West on I90 to Laurel. Head Southwest through Laurel until you get on Hwy 310. 310 will take you to Lovell, Wy where you need to get onto hwy 14A. From there it is a short 15min drive up to the top of the mountain.
