Eureka Reservoir

|

Description

Nice sandy almost flat shoreline in the SE end of reservoir. Also nice shallow sandy approach to the reservoir for kitesurfing. Excellent winds typically around the choteau area. I'm not sure how busy the res. gets in summer & it gets fairly small by end of summer as its an irrigation reservoir but definitely good for land & water.

Directions

Go north of Choteau & take the turn towards Teton Pass Ski area. Its only ~3 miles past that turn & right along the highway.

Ft. Missoula Area

Walts Cove, El Mirage Dry Lake

Description

One of the best places in the world for high speed buggying and landboarding. This rediculously smooth, flat drylake also offers unbelievable off-road buggy opportunities and thousands of natural kickers on the shores for landboarding. Be sure to bring your GPS with you to clock your top buggy speed on the flat...60mph+ is not uncommon. The specific spot I have marked on the map is what kiters reffer to as Walts Cove. The lake is BIG, and if you want your best chances of running into other kiters, this is the spot to park. Many times the wind is STRONG, so bring small kites.

Directions

There is several ways to get there, depending on what direction you are coming from so look at the map and figure it out! But this is the simplest way to get there for the directionally challenged:
From I-15 exit onto Palmdale Rd. and head West. Turn right and head North on US Hwy 395. In Adelanto, turn left on Crippen Rd. Make a right on Koala Rd and it will turn into El Mirage Rd when it makes the 90degree turn to the Left (West). A few miles up on the right side, you will see the entrance to El Mirage Dry Lake. Once on the lake, feel free to haul ass...no speed limit. Look at the map to figure out how to find Walts Cove this is where I'm done holding your hand. If you drive on the lake when it is wet, or drive through wet spots, I will personally hunt you down and thoroughly whoop your ASS! Rutts on the surface SUCK when you hit them on your buggy at 60mph! Have fun!!!
